Joey Bada$$ Shares His Thoughts On The 2018 XXL Freshman Class

The Brooklyn wordsmith adds his debut project to streaming services.

(AllHipHop News) Once again rap pundits and fans are debating the selections for the XXL Freshman Class. The 2018 edition has caused some controversy for its omissions like 6ix9ine, Rich The Kid, Tee Grizzley, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Jay Critch, and Lil Baby.

For this year's cover, the long-running Hip Hop publication selected Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Pump, Smokepurpp, J.I.D, Stefflon Don, BlocBoy JB, YBN Nahmir, Wifisfuneral and Trippie Redd. 2013 XXL Freshman alum Joey Bada$$ was asked about the latest class while on Open Late.

"Pretty much everyone on that cover has potential. What I will say - and this is no shade to XXL, I love everybody over there - I don't think it matters as much as it did once upon a time," Joey offered. "There were a few people in my opinion who should have been on there, but honestly they didn't even need it."

The Pro Era frontman also discussed becoming a father, radio politics, and acting on Mr. Robot. Bada$$ also celebrated the re-release of his debut mixtape 1999 on vinyl and on streaming services.
