John Legend To Guest Star As Frederick Douglass On ‘Underground’

THE GRAMMY-WINNING SINGER IS SET TO APPEAR AS THE HISTORIC ABOLITIONIST

(AllHipHop News) John Legend is set to guest star as the iconic abolitionist Frederick Douglass in a new episode of WGN America’s Underground.

Besides appearing in the historical drama, Legend also serves as executive producer for the series, and the Grammy-winner co-wrote the original song “In America” for the show’s second season.

Underground‘s main cast includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Amirah Van, and Christopher Meloni.

Last year, Smollett-Bell spoke with AllHipHop.com about Underground.

“And the tone, pace, and feeling of the show makes it a thriller. It’s not a ‘slave drama.’ It’s an escape drama. It’s about heroes. These are our superheroes,” said the veteran actress.

The “Whiteface” episode, featuring Legend, is scheduled to air Wednesday, April 5 at 10:00 pm.

Kate Woods directed the episode.

It was written by Misha Green and Joe Pokaski.
