Joji Becomes First Asian-Born Artist To Lead The Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart

The performer/producer makes history.

(AllHipHop News) Congratulations go out to 88rising Records' Joji. The rhymer raised in Osaka, Japan became the first Asian-born artist to reach #1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Joji's Ballads 1 LP debuted with 57,000 units. That total was also enough to put the former YouTuber at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

"I was eating a thin slice of cheese when I received this news. I smiled and swallowed the cheese. A big thank you to the fans who constantly support. Take care of the environment," says Joji.

Ballads 1 includes a feature from American artist Trippie Redd. Joji also provided production on the project along with Thundercat, Patrick Wimberly, RL Grime, Ryan Hemsworth, and others.
