Jussie Smollett Is Back On Social Media Celebrating "Choir Boy" Play

Jussie is allegedly far from a "choir boy" himself, but he likes the play of the same name.

(AllHipHop News) Actor Jussie Smollett has returned to social media to praise Broadway playwright Tarell Alvin Mccraney for his impassioned speech at the Tony Awards.

The former "Empire" star has been quiet on Instagram ever since he became caught up in controversy in January, after claiming he had been the victim of a violent hate crime in Chicago, Illinois.

Police officials insist they found no evidence to back up his allegations, and they ended up charging Smollett for reportedly faking the incident as a publicity stunt - although all charges were dropped by prosecutors in March.

Smollett has continued to lie low ever since, but on Monday, he made his social media return to applaud McCraney for his gay pride speech about his coming-of-age musical and Best Play nominee "Choir Boy," which centers on a talented teen who is bullied by a homophobic student, as he introduced a performance by the cast.

"So much #PRIDE," Smollett captioned video footage of McCraney's comments at Sunday's New York City ceremony.

The embattled actor had attended the play's opening night in early 2019, and even had a performance dedicated to him following the initial news of his attack.
