(AllHipHop News) Justin Bieber has shown his support to the Black Lives Matter racial justice movement with a passionate social media post.
The "Baby" hitmaker isn’t known for getting political, but he shared the group’s black and yellow Black Lives Matter logo on Instagram and expressed his feelings about the need for equality.
“I am a white Canadian and I will never know what it feels like to be an African American,” he wrote. “But what I do know is I am willing to stand up and use my voice to shine light on racism, because it’s a real thing and it’s more prevalent now than I have ever seen in my lifetime.. we are all Gods (sic) children and we are ALL EQUAL.”
It’s not known what prompted Justin to speak out, but the Black Lives Matter campaign has become more prominent since first gaining traction in 2013, following the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the fatal Florida shooting of unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin, which prompted widespread protests.
Further demonstrations were staged under the Black Lives Matter banner following the subsequent deaths of the likes of Michael Brown and Eric Garner at the hands of police officers, and the campaign has now become a major force for political change across America.
