(AllHipHopNews) Throughout his career Kanye West has tried his hand at filmmaking on a couple of occasions. He released his Runaway short film in 2010, and he premiered his Cruel Summer 7-screen installation during the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
It now appears Kanye is working on a movie project inspired by Yeezus, and American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis is on board to write the screenplay.
Speaking with Vice, Easton said about the Yeezus movie:
It’s in Kanye-land and that’s subject to a whole other timeframe. He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to Yeezus. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So fuck it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.
Kanye has shown in the past he was influenced by American Psycho. His video for Love Lockdown was inspired by the serial killer story. Ye also released a parody of the Mary Harron directed film starring Scott Disick as part of his Yeezus guerrilla style promo.
