Kelis Says Chris Brown's Abuse Of Rihanna Made Her Leave Rapper Nas
(AllHipHop News) Kelis has called out her former husband Nas, claiming the rap star was both mentally and physically abusive.
The "Milkshake" singer claimed that Rihanna's infamous beatdown at the hands of Chris Brown in February of 2009 was a wake-up call for her to get out of her drug-fueled, boozy relationship with Nas.
"When the Rihanna and Chris Brown pictures came out I thought about coming out because I also had bruises all over my body," Kelis claimed in an interview. "But I didn’t say anything because I’m private. But seeing her the way she looked and then looking at myself, I felt embarrassed.”
Kelis also commented on their ongoing custody battle over their 8-year-old son, Knight. Kelis accused Nas of parenting when it was convenient for him.
"You can't not show up for months and then show up and try to make up your own [visitation] schedule," Kelis said.
For his part, Nas has claimed in court documents that Kelis is abusive and confrontational, citing an incident over Easter Weekend, when he encountered Kelis "fuming" in anger when he attempted to pick up his son, Knight.
