Kendrick Lamar, Drake & Childish Gambino Turned Down Performing At The Grammys

"We continue to have a problem in the Hip Hop world."

(AllHipHop News) Even though Hip Hop acts dominated the Grammy nominations this year, it looks like some of the biggest stars from the culture won't be hitting the stage on Sunday. Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Childish Gambino all reportedly declined to perform at the show.

"The fact of the matter is, we continue to have a problem in the Hip Hop world,” acknowledged Grammy producer Kenneth Ehrlich in an interview with the New York Times. "When they don’t take home the big prize, the regard of the academy, and what the Grammys represent, continues to be less meaningful to the Hip Hop community, which is sad.”

Kendrick's eight nominations lead the pack in 2019. The TDE emcee's Black Panther: The Album is up for Album Of The Year. Drake earned 7 nods, and Childish Gambino picked up five.

Five-time nominees Cardi B and H.E.R. are set to perform at the ceremony. Kendrick Lamar has had standout sets at the Grammys in the past, including his 2018 medley featuring U2. Childish Gambino and Cardi were also among the performers at last year's event.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards is scheduled to air February 10 at 8 pm ET on CBS live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
