(AllHipHop News) At the midway point of 2017, only one album has received double platinum certification - Kendrick Lamar's DAMN.
Kendrick showed love to his followers for making DAMN such a huge commercial success.
"These murals forever belong to my fans. You've always taken my words above and beyond. Around the world and back again. With trust. I am forever grateful. 2x," wrote Lamar on Instagram.
The RIAA named the TDE emcee's fourth studio LP as the “Top Awarded Album” for the first half of the year.
In addition, Nielsen Music listed DAMN as the top album in its mid-year report.
According to the music tracking system, DAMN collected 1,772,000 sales plus streaming units in the first six months of 2017.
The critically acclaimed opus sold 678,000 copies in the year's first half which is second only to Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Divide) with 743,000 copies sold.
Kendrick's favorite body of work from his own discography has been one of the most popular albums in the country for 14 straight weeks.
Since its debut at #1 on the May 6-dated Billboard 200, DAMN has yet to slip below the #3 spot on the chart.
“I think DAMN is a hybrid of all these projects. It was me finally being able to take elements from good kid, the message behind To Pimp a Butterfly, the sonic and beats slapping on good kid, and the rawness of just being able to do what I want like I did on Section.80," explained K. Dot on why he puts his latest effort at the top of his personal list.
