Kendrick Lamar Urges Judge to Use Common Sense In "All The Stars" Lawsuit

Kendrick and SZA want a judge to be logical and dismiss a lawsuit.

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Kendrick Lamar and singer SZA have asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit they are facing over the music video for their Black Panther track "All The Stars."

British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor launched legal action against the musicians in February, claiming their promo recreated the "unique look and feel" of her fine art pieces, entitled Constellations I, Constellations II, and Constellations III.

She also alleged that "specific copyrightable elements" such as "stylized motifs of mythical animals, gilded geometric forms on a black background, and distinctively textured areas and patterns" were duplicated in the video.

Viktor also revealed representatives for the movie reached out to her twice in the hope of using her talents onscreen, but she declined, only to find aspects of her work allegedly utilized in the promo for Kendrick and SZA's collaboration.

In her filing, she demanded unspecified damages, and an injunction preventing the duo from continued use of her art, but the collaborators are now asking a judge to throw the lawsuit out because they believe that even if her artwork was copied "common sense and logic dictate that the alleged 19 second use of the artwork in the video" did not contribute to the success of the song.

Btw Kendrick Lamar if I were about 30 yrs younger, Laaaaaaaaawd have mercy! Fine ass!😩

I certainly hope the judge does use common sense! No matter what art has been used I promise you it had ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NOTHING to do with the success of the movie nor anything ELSE concerning the success of the movie! FOH!
