(AllHipHop News) Khalid promised he would set up a benefit concert after El Paso suffered a mass shooting earlier this month. The "Talk" singer will host a special performance in the Texas city's Don Haskins Center.
"In support of his hometown of El Paso and in response to the tragic mass shooting on August 3, 2019, Khalid will be raising funds through this concert and t-shirt sales to support the El Paso Shooting Victims’ Fund and the El Paso Community Foundation," reads a statement on The Great Khalid Foundation website.
The "A Night for Suncity" show is scheduled for September 1. Khalid will serve as the headliner, and he is expected to bring out surprise performers. The 21-year-old hitmaker is also requesting donations be sent to Courtney Stewart’s Right Hand Foundation to assist families affected by the El Paso massacre.
A suspected white supremacist killed 22 people and injured 24 others at a Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall. The shooter reportedly published an anti-Hispanic, anti-immigrant manifesto on 8chan before gunning down the victims. Authorities are said to be investigating the incident as an act of domestic terrorism.
