(AllHipHop News) In October of 2016, a group of armed men burst into her residence at the Hôtel de Pourtalès.
The thieves bound and gagged Kim, and then made off with dozens of her diamonds, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other valuables, including her $4.5 million engagement ring from her husband Kanye West.
Earlier this month, dozens of people were rounded up in Paris by French police and charged with various crimes for their roles in the robbery.
The ringleader of the heist, Aomar Ait Khedache, 60, is known on the streets as “Old Omar.”
Old Omar told police that the group of bandits agreed to melt down Kim’s jewelry so that it would be unrecognizable.
“One of us took care of that. He came back with bars. Altogether there must have been a bit more than 800 grams,” Old Omar told police, according to French newspaper Le Monde.
Old Omar also denied parts of Kim’s reports that claimed the men flashed their weapons at her and threatened to kill her if she didn’t reveal where the pricey valuables were.
“We didn’t take out our weapons in front of a woman. The person with me tied her up on the bed. I placed her in the bath,” Old Omar told police.
Old Omar confirmed police’s suspicions that Kim Kardashian was targeted, after she was flossing her jewelry on social media, where she has almost 170,000,000 followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, combined.
“The jewels were shown on the Internet, and she said that she didn’t wear fakes,” Old Omar told the cops. “…You just had to look at the Internet and you would know everything, absolutely everything.”
