(AllHipHop News) Hip-hop legend KRS-One has apologized for paying tribute to the wrong Beastie Boys star on a new song dedicated to late rappers.
Adam Yauch, known as MCA, died in 2012 after losing his battle with cancer, but in a track titled “Hip Hop Speaks From Heaven the rapper gives a shout out to surviving Beastie Boys member Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horovitz.
Ad-Rock has not commented on the song, but the “Sound of Da Police” rapper has since apologized and removed the track from his album.
“I am sending my sincere apologies to King Ad-Rock from the Beastie Boys on a performance error that I made on a song entitled Hip Hop Speaks from Heaven from my new album The World is Mind,” he wrote on Twitter. “I mistakenly paid respect and condolences to the wrong Beastie Boy member King Ad-Rock when it should have been MCA. In light of this, I am redoing the song ‘Hip Hop Speaks from Heaven’ and I am pulling the original version off of my digital release. Historical accuracy is extremely important to me, so I accept all responsibility for this error…”
