Kurtis Blow Undergoes Heart Surgery After Grueling Trip To China

The rapper had to get surgery at UCLA Medical when he returned from a speaking gig in China.

(AllHipHop News) Rap godfather Kurtis Blow is recovering after undergoing major surgery to save his life.

Kurtis took a trip to China, where he was the featured speaker at the Music Cities Convention in Chengdu, China.

He only spent two days in China, from April 11-12, and was thankful to touch down back in the states.

Unfortunately, Kurtis revealed he suddenly needed to undergo emergency heart surgery, after one of his arteries was damaged due to a hematoma.

"The procedure will stabilize the artery from further damage caused by the hematoma I contacted from my recent travels to China. Dr. [Murray] Kwon is an incredible surgeon with hundreds of these procedures under his belt. I trust that God will use him as a tool of success tomorrow," Kurtis wrote on Instagram.

The injury from the hematoma presumably came about due to the lengthy flight, which is 17 hours each direction.

Kurtis was operated on by surgeons at UCLA Medical in Los Angeles, and thankfully, the procedure was a success.

Kurtis, who is also an ordained minister for the Hip-Hop Church in New York, thanked god.

"Hello my family and friends. The surgery was a tremendous success- Praise God!! Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes!!! Wow!!! I am so humbled by all the love!!!! To God be the Glory!!!! God Bless you all!!!!
