(AllHipHop News) It cannot be denied that Lil Nas X is having one of the most impressive years in music ever. The Georgia native's "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus broke the record for most weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 chart, and his debut song has remained at the top of that tally for 19 weeks.
An accomplishment that moves a brand new artist passed the iconic Mariah Carey on any list rightfully earns plenty of recognition such as gracing the cover of Time magazine. The 96-year-old national publication interviewed Lil Nas X, and the 20-year-old 7 EP creator talked about another huge moment that took place in his life over the last few months.
"I never would have done that if I wasn’t in a way pushed by the universe,” said Lil Nas about coming out as gay during LGBT Pride Month. “In June, I’m seeing Pride flags everywhere and seeing couples holding hands - little stuff like that.”
The Columbia recording artist also admitted he was worried that announcing his sexuality could cause him to lose fans. However, "Old Town Road" stayed atop the Hot 100 for another 11 weeks after LNX came out on Twitter. His tweet has collected over 557,000 likes on Twitter since June 30.
