Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" Hits No. 1 On The Hot 100 Chart

The Georgia native turned 20 today.

(AllHipHop News) Is this an example of all press is good press? A lot of people were introduced to Lil Nas X when news broke that Billboard removed his "Old Town Road" from the Hot Country Songs chart.

The track skyrocketed up other charts following that controversy. Last week, "Old Town Road" topped the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart. This week, the Country-Trap record is the overall #1 song in the country.

Lil Nas X became the first solo artist to lead the Hot 100 chart with a debut single since Cardi B with "Bodak Yellow" in 2017. The Columbia Records signee is the first solo male artist to pull off that achievement since Desiigner with 2016's "Panda."

"Old Town Road" also jumped 7 spots to #1 on the Streaming Songs chart. Additionally, Lil Nas X earned his first #1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.

The tune is likely to remain at the pinnacle of the Hot 100 next week. Lil Nas X teamed with Billy Ray Cyrus for the "Old Town Road" remix. The new version is the most popular song on Spotify and Apple Music.
