(AllHipHop News) Lil Nas X continues to add his name to new sections of the history book. His global smash "Old Town Road" with Billy Ray Cyrus is the #1 song in America for a tenth week.
The single joins just 37 other records to spend at least 10 weeks in the pole position of the Hot 100 chart. Canadian superstar Drake was the last artist to pull off the feat when "In My Feelings" totaled 10 weeks at Number One in 2018. Drake also had a Hot 100 reign of at least double digits in 2018 with "God's Plan" (11 weeks) and in 2016 with "One Dance" featuring WizKid and Kyla (10 weeks).
Other lead Hip Hop acts in the exclusive 10-week club include Kanye West ("Gold Digger" - 10 weeks), Pharrell Williams ("Happy" - 10 weeks), Nelly ("Dilemma" - 10 weeks), Puff Daddy ("I'll Be Missing You" - 11 weeks), Eminem ("Lose Yourself" - 12 weeks), and Wiz Khalifa ("See You Again" - 12 weeks). The all-time record (16 weeks, tie) is held by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber in 2017 and Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" in 1995.
Some doubters have questioned if Lil Nas X will be able to follow-up the success of "Old Town Road" with another hit or if he ultimately will have to carry the "one-hit-wonder" label. The Georgia-bred entertainer will get the chance to prove the cynics wrong when he releases his 7 EP in the coming weeks.
"[Potentially being a one hit wonder] is literally told to me at every second at this point, and it's crazy. It's expected though 'cause the type of songs that I've made and then they'll go back to listen to my older songs. I expect that and I welcome that," said LNX. "I know. It's not a doubt in my mind that I'm not going to be a one hit wonder. I know big things [are] coming. It's gonna be great."
