Lil Wayne Explains Why Drake Didn't Appear On 'Tha Carter V' Album

Many listeners were expecting to hear the Young Money giants on a record together.

(AllHipHop News) Some fans and pundits wondered why Drake was absent from Lil Wayne's comeback album Tha Carter V. Weezy sat down with Elliott Wilson for Tidal's CRWN series, and the Young Money boss addressed his musical protege not appearing on the project.

“[Drake] has a song that didn’t get cleared. The clearances man," Wayne explained. "People be tripping when they find out who it is and when they find out what the song’s subject is about. They be like they don't want that to represent the names of something like that."

He added, "You really don't know why they say no. That's my opinion why they say no. I'm gonna think it's because of me - 'You just don't want to do it because it's me.'"

C5 did feature XXXTentacion, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Sosamann, Snoop Dogg, Nivea, Ashanti, Mack Maine, and Wayne's daughter Reginae Carter. In addition, Top Dawg Entertainment superstar Kendrick Lamar has a standout verse on "Mona Lisa."
