(AllHipHop News) Last year Lil Wayne found himself in the middle of a controversy because of his verse on Future's "Karate Chop (Remix)." The lyrics referring to murdered teenager Emmett Till were seen by some as inappropriate and offensive, and the line eventually cost Wayne his deal with Mountain Dew.
The YMCMB rapper now says he is more careful about what he raps about. In an interview with MTV, Wayne states that his upcoming Tha Carter V will be reflective of a more mature artist.
"I say it's different, because I'm older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now," says Wayne.
He continues, "I'm more careful about what I'm doing and trying to be more careful about what I'm saying. There were times where I didn't care, and it's not that I didn't care. It's just that I knew I had people above me or around me that was going to make sure whatever I said or shouldn't have said. Well now, I'm those people."
