CHECK OUT THIS NEW TAKE ON B.I.G.’s “WHO SHOT YA”

(AllHipHop News) Hard rock group Living Colour will be featuring Chuck D, Pharaohe Monch, Prodigal Sunn and Black Thought and more on a remix of the band’s cover of the Notorious B.I.G.’s classic cut “Who Shot Ya?”

Rolling Stone reports that the band has incorporated their remix of the track in their performances for years, but were inspired to release Andre Bett’s remix of their cover in response to the outbreak of police violence and civil unrest across the country.

Prodigal Sunn of the Wu-Tang affiliated Sunz of Man opens the powerful track with his verse, followed by Black Thought of The Roots, who spits very poignant bars shining light on the current social ills.

“It’s hard to keep count of the deceased / More dead n#####, another half-assed press release / Black man blood start to flood the street.”

Chuck D currently of Prophets of Rage and Pharoahe Monch close out the track with their politically charged bars, followed by Kyle Mansa, who brings the track to a dancehall flavored close.

The track will be included on Living Colour’s upcoming EP Mixtape, which will feature several reworkings of the classic Biggie track and will become available to the public September 9.

The rock group is also working on their first album release since 2009’s The Chair in The Doorway, entitled Shade.
