(AllHipHop News) R&B crooner Lyfe Jennings, 37, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison on Wednesday (September 22nd) for an altercation on with his ex-girlfriend two years ago.
The singer made the revelation on his Twitter account.
"This will be my last post. To everyone who gave me a chance I am forever in your debt. I have had a fabulous career because of you," the singer tweeted. "I've lived a hundred lives in these 6 yrs so I not only won't, I don't have the right to complain. I would like to think that I've changed lives by changing my own, tho I can't be sure. But one thing I am sure of is God gives and takes away in measure. He is fair, just and forever."
The singer was arrested in 2008 after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, where he broke into her house and shot a handgun. He then fled the scene as police chased the singer in his 2005 Chevy Corvette.
Much of the singer's success was predicated on his realness and street appeal. He served 10 years in jail, prior to entering entertainment. "All I can say in parting is that I have been honest. I didn't sugarcoat a
word didn't hold back a single [part] of my life from [you]," he said.
He released a new album, I Still Believe, in August.
