(AllHipHop News) Mac Miller's death has resulted in his last album hitting No. 1 days after he died. Swimming hit No. 1 on Apple Music's chart leaping in front of Eminem’s Kamikaze and Travis Scott’s AstroWorld.
Em and Travis Scott lurk at the No. 2 and 3 slots.
Mac's album debuted the same day as AstroWorld, in early August, but was somewhat overshadowed by the tremendous promo run. Still, Swimming debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts. Mac also has five videos in the top 5 slots, per Apple Music.
The 26-year old rapper was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in his California home last Friday. “Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26,” his family stated in a statement. “He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.”
Scores of artists have paid tribute to Mac, including iconic figures like Elton John.
Elton recently told an audience in Pennsylvania, “I'd like to dedicate this song to Mac Miller. Unbelievably, 26 years of age, and passed away yesterday. It's inconceivable that someone so young, and with so much talent, could do that. And I just would like to pass all of our love and best wishes to his loved ones, his family, his friends. And, Mac, wherever you are, I hope you're happy now." He played “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” in honor of Mac Miller.
