Marques Houston Talks Ty Dolla $ign Once Being A Member Of Immature

The vocalist on the current #1 song in the country started in the R&B group.

(AllHipHop News) Before changing their name to IMx, Marques "Batman" Houston, Jerome "Romeo" Jones, and Kelton "LDB" Kessee were known as Immature. The boy band released several albums, including 1992's On Our Worst Behavior.

Don "Half Pint" Santos was also apart of the group in the beginning before being replaced by Kessee. According to Houston, another singer was an early member as well.

"Ty Dolla [$ign] was in Immature’s band when we first started. Chris Stokes discovered Ty back in the day," said Houston on Beats 1 Radio. "I pulled up a clip of him in Immature on The Arsenio Hall Show. I was like 9 years old and he was in the band."

The 36-year-old entertainer added, "He had to be eight? Seven or eight. He's like a year younger than me. It was cool. It was like, he’s the homie. We were like brothers. A lot of people used to say him and Romeo, from IMX/Immature, they kind of look like brothers, so they would call them brothers. We kind of knew his family and his family was musically driven. His dad, Big Ty, was in the music, and Stokes knew his dad. It just kind of happened like that. His dad would actually help us program the music for our shows back then."

Additionally, Houston talked about Ty [then known as Tyrone] was the only person in the group that played an instrument. He also mentioned Brandy and Ray J were Immature backup singers around that time too.

Ty Dolla $ign went on to release numerous hits as a solo act. The Taylor Gang affiliate is featured on Post Malone's "Psycho" which is currently the #1 song on the Hot 100 chart.
