(AllHipHop News) Meek Mill is still working to get a new trial for his 2008 gun case. The arresting police officer was discovered to be part of a list of cops viewed as too tainted to testify in court.
Judge Genece Brinkley has faced heavy criticism for her refusal to grant Meek a new trial or recuse herself from the case. Brinkley's attorney, Charles Peruto, was even caught on tape agreeing with Meek, his lawyers, and the Philadelphia District Attorney that the '08 case should be thrown out.
Peruto can be heard saying, "That was hard to do. Defending this judge is becoming difficult. Why doesn't she just grant this f-cking thing? She looks f-cking awful."
Meek responded to that statement by posting on Instagram:
Everybody knows what’s going on.... you can’t make this stuff up.... and this the same lawyer that came to see me and discussed my case b4 he became the judges lawyer smh! Come on #philadelphia #pennsylvania I did too much work in my community to be treated like I don’t have rights!
The audio of Peruto was caught on a hot mic after he was interviewed for a Roc Nation/Amazon documentary about Meek's case. He told Philadelphia, "I did not speak ill of the judge’s legal decisions."
