Missy Elliott Reacts To Being Nominated For The Songwriters Hall Of Fame

The 'Supa Dupa Fly' album creator is the first female rapper to earn a nomination.

(AllHipHop News) Missy Elliott could join Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Jermaine Dupri as the only Hip Hop artists to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Miss E found out about her history-making nomination this week.

"[I] am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers," tweeted Missy. "Congratulations to all of them also."

Other 2019 SHOF nominees include Mariah Carey, Dallas Austin, Vince Gill, Chrissie Hynde, Cat Stevens, and Jimmy Cliff.  Missy would be the first female rapper inducted into the Hall.

Four-time Grammy winner Missy Elliott has written numerous hit records for herself. She has also penned songs for Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Aaliyah, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Ciara, and other performers.

Six songwriters or songwriting groups will be officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City on June 13, 2019.
