(AllHipHop News) In 2001, we lost an angel named Aaliyah, who passed away in a freak plane accident coming back from a video shoot in the Bahamas.
Each year on August 25th, family, friends, fans, and loved ones remember the late singer in the most positive light.
This year marks the 17th anniversary of the R&B singer’s death, many took to social media to pay tribute to the "Rock the Boat" singer.
Missy Elliott was one of the first ones, who tweeted a video of herself handwriting a heartfelt note to our babygirl.
The caption reads, “Aaliyah (Babygirl) I can only imagine how great you would be today winning oscars😉& creating sick music & still setting fashion trends! Your mom & brother @RAD_6 & your fans been holding it down 4 u❤️you will always be A One in A Million🙌🏾 sleep peacefully angel Babygirl🙏🏾”
But that was not enough. Missy recorded herself writing these words on a blank piece of paper: “Aaliyah, we miss you SO much,” with a crying face to follow.
“But your legacy will live on forever and ever!"
