MTV is canceling

their MTVx cable channel and replacing it with an all hip-hop music channel.

The move was made because the content was too "alternative" for many

cable operators and for the digital TV subscribers on which it’s aired. Despite

the fact that MTV has experienced their highest rating ever with the popular

"Osbournes" reality show which is devoted to the family of rocker

Ozzy Osbourne, the network saw more potential for the hip-hop channel.

The change is part of a new digital cable package

of sister stations MTV launched, which includes MTV Jams, VH1 Mega Hits, MTV

Hits and Nicktoons TV. The new hip-hop channel will play hip-hop videos 24 hours

a day, commercial free.
