Nas Explains How Prince Helped Turn Him Into A Boss Businessman

The legendary singer refused to work with Nas for one simple reason

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Nas has revealed he once approached Prince about a collaboration – but the star refused to work with him because he didn’t own his master tapes.

The 45-year-old revealed in an interview on Revolt TV’s "Drink Champs" he met the star at the release party for his 1999 album *I Am…"

But while Nas wanted to work with the "Purple Rain" hitmaker, he revealed the fact he didn’t own his masters put the late star off the idea.

“I sought him, because he came to my I Am… release party,” the musician shared. “I pulled a N.O.R.E. move, I said: ‘Yo, look man, let’s do this. Let’s do this song.’ And he was like: ‘Do you own your masters?’… But he blew my s##t, because I was like: ‘I don’t.'”

While Nas didn’t get to work with the music legend, he admitted Prince made a lasting impression on him.

“He dropped a jewel, he kind of helped me see the future and he was like: ‘When you own your masters, give me a ring’,” Nas continued. “But we kicked it a few times.

“We got cool, he was seriously a very cool dude to me,” he said.

Nas released his latest album, The Lost Tapes II, last Friday.

The album comprises of 16 unreleased tracks, taken from the recording sessions for the New York rapper’s last four studio albums.
