National Hip-Hop Talent Search Set for Nov. 29th and 30th

After a successful 2007 debut, the Music Mega Star talent search is set to once again offer unknown Hip-Hop artists the chance to be discovered.

Being held this year at the Music Factory Recording Studio in NYC, the event will give a platform for aspiring musicians to showcase their art for executives from Def Jam, Universal Music Group, Atlantic, Jive, Bad Boy, Violator, and G-Unit Records.

The inaugural 2007 year featured an exclusive BET five-part series and saw over 2000 artists enter from around the U.S.

This year, the playing field will be narrowed, with only 200 hopefuls being eligible to perform.

In a age where “artist development” is no longer the responsibility of record labels, the Music Mega Star competition will also test how well the artists have honed their “brand” and readiness to transition to the national stage.

Last year that distinction went to female rap group Unladylike.

After traveling by car from St. Louis for 22 hours, the group waited in line for 15 hours before flooring executives with their performance.

Currently, the winners are now signed to Def Jam and crafting their debut album.

The two day showcase will commence from 12PM-midnight on Saturday November 29th and Sunday November 30th.
