(AllHipHop News) Rapper Nelly voluntarily flew to the U.K. recently to assist police with their investigation into a sexual assault allegation against him.
It was reported early last year that police in Essex, England had opened an investigation after a woman claimed the hitmaker masturbated in front of her and forced his penis into her mouth backstage after a show in Southend on December 5.
At the time, Nelly’s lawyer issued a statement saying the rapper welcomes a “thorough investigation” as it will prove the allegations are “disingenuous.”
The 44-year-old proved he was happy to help with the case by flying to Southend to be interviewed by Essex Police of his own accord last week.
“Nelly flew to the UK on his own volition last week to work with the police in assisting their investigation to clear his name completely,” his representative said.
According to reports, his participation was a “major step forward” into their criminal probe, but it might still be a while before a decision is made on whether to charge him.
Nelly, who was never detained over the accusations, is also being sued over the same alleged incident.
In September, he settled a separate lawsuit with a U.S. woman who had accused him of rape.
He is also facing a second assault allegation from a woman who claimed he assaulted her backstage at a show in Birmingham, England in 2016.
After the U.K. allegations emerged early last year, his lawyer Scott Rosenblum said, “Nelly welcomes a thorough investigation… Nelly is confident that once investigated, these claims will be determined to be disingenuous.
Nelly was accompanied by his girlfriend during this tour and she was at his side throughout. It is important that police investigate every allegation of this nature.”
