(AllHipHop News) For years, Drake has been teasing his involvement in the popular British show Top Boy. New episodes of the Drake-produced, Ronan Bennett-created crime drama are officially headed to Netflix.
The streaming giant released a "Cast Announcement" video on April 2. Ashley "Asher D" Walters, Kane "Kano" Robinson, Simbi "Little Simz" Ajikawo, David "Dave" Omoregie, Micheal Ward, and Shone Romulus will appear on the program.
“We couldn’t be more excited for Netflix members around the world and a new generation of fans to discover the authentic, raw and real world of Top Boy,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President, Original Content for Netflix. “Drake came to us several months ago with a passion to help bring this series back to life, and we’re thrilled to support the original creative team to do just that.”
Top Boy ran for two seasons on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom before gaining a following in the United States when the series was added to Netflix. Back in 2016, Drake posted on Instagram, "Top Boy will rise again." The new 10-part season is set to arrive on Netflix this fall.
Top Boy is being executive produced by the original creative team of Ronan Bennett, Charles Steel, Alasdair Flind, and Yann Demange. In addition, the new installment will be executive produced by Aubrey Drake Graham and his business partner Adel “Future” Nur, along with Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for SpringHill Entertainment.
“I am delighted to be reunited once more with the Top Boy team - our wonderful cast and my partners at Cowboy Films - and to have Drake and SpringHill as new collaborators. And I could not be prouder to be doing the show with Netflix," stated Bennett.
