(AllHipHop News) Mariah Carey's ex Nick Cannon is heading back to the world of TV variety after signing on to host The Masked Singer.
The former America's Got Talent frontman will take charge of the new Fox show, which will feature celebrities singing in the dark.
Panelists including Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke will have to guess who the celebrity is behind the mask after he or she performs for them.
"This is truly one of the most unique, genre-defining formats I've ever seen," Rob Wade, Fox's president of Alternative Entertainment and Specials, said. "It’s a massive international hit, and its boldness and originality make it the perfect fit for Fox.
The producers are refusing to reveal the identities of the masked singers on the show, but Wade adds, "Between all of the celebrity competitors on the show, they've amassed 65 Grammy nominations, 16 multi-Platinum albums, 16 Emmy nominations, nine Broadway shows, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Super Bowl titles."
The new show was announced on Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour. It will launch in January.
