Nicki Minaj Hopes Geoffrey Owens Doesn't Take Donation 'The Wrong Way'

Nicki is giving the actor a grip of cash.

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj is planning to reach out to cash-strapped actor Geoffrey Owens to make sure he doesn't take her $25,000 donation "the wrong way."

A picture of "The Cosby Show" star bagging groceries at a Trader Joe's store went viral recently, and many actors publicly defended Owens after he was shamed for getting another job to help pay the bills between acting roles.

On her new episode of Queen Radio, Nicki announced that she was going to donate $25,000 to support "this hard-working man."

She subsequently told Entertainment Tonight at the Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards on Thursday that she will be reaching out to make sure he isn't offended by the gesture.

"Tell him that Im going to have my team contact him because I hope he doesnt take it the wrong way," she said. "I just want to help him in any way I can."

Explaining why she felt like she needed to support Owens, the rapper explained, "Some people are on the internet and seeking attention, and hes just the antithesis of that. So I felt like, 'Oh my God, could you imagine?'

"We all have done jobs like that and I just thought, what if that were me? Or a family member and they were minding their own business, working to feed their family and somebody tried to humiliate them? I dont like the way that feels."

On Queen Radio, the 35-year-old embarked on a foul-mouthed rant over the picture and called Owens a "whole f##king legend on these streets."

Owens appeared on breakfast show Good Morning America on Tuesday to address the viral image, admitting he initially felt "devastation" and "shame" over the negative press, although that has since turned to pride by the way his peers have responded and the job offers he's received.

Tyler Perry offered him a job on his TV show "The Haves and the Have Nots," and according to, Owens has now accepted.

He will reportedly have a 10-episode recurring role and fly out to Atlanta, Georgia to begin filming next week.
