(AllHipHop News) It's been a rough week for Nicki Minaj in the press. Her new song "Megatron" fell over 70 spots on the Hot 100 chart, the rap star is being sued for posting photographer's pictures to social media, and she pulled out of a show in Saudi Arabia after being accused of supporting a repressive regime.
Minaj then faced backlash for tweeting about an alleged negative experience in another country. Some people felt the Trinidad and Tobago-born performer was suggesting Jamaica was just as oppressive to women as Saudi Arabia.
"I performed in Jamaica before & when i got off the stage I was surrounded by police with guns drawn. They were ready 2 take me to jail b/c they said I forgot to bleep a couple curses.... I could make one mistake & go to jail in a diff country where women have no rights. #FreeAsap," posted Nicki.
She later attempted to clear up her statement and then told her critics to shut the f*ck up. Nicki tweeted, "Ummm for the ppl in the back, I wasn’t saying Jamaica doesn’t have women’s rights. I gave an example of what happened in JA to explain how easy it would be to do one thing wrong in Saudia Arabia b/c I’m not aware of every single rule & be locked up. Everyone knows I love JA. STFU."
