Oprah Winfrey has never been the biggest fan of hip-hop. The former talk show host has always condemned the genre for its violent lyrics, degradation of women and use of the N-word. You think N.W.A would be the last thing Winfrey would be interested in but surprisingly, she went to see an early screening of their biopic, Straight Outta Compton, and actually liked it.
The mogul took to her Twitter feed and tweeted Selma director Ava DuVernay to rave about the film, calling it “powerful.”

Straight Outta Compton, which was directed by F. Gary Gray, depicts the beginnings of hip-hop’s biggest gangsta rap group and follows their rise to fame and all the trials and tribulations that came along with it. The biopic hits theaters Aug. 14th.
