Pharrell Williams Explains Good Style Vs. Bad Style

Pharrell was named one of the Best Dressed Men of 2017 and this is how he earned the award.

(AllHipHop News) Pharrell Williams trusts his instincts when it comes to putting his outfits together.

The "Happy" hitmaker is often lauded for his fashion sense and made it into the top 25 of GQ's best-dressed men of 2017.

As well as his music career, which includes both singing and producing, Pharrell has also explored his stylish side with numerous fashion ventures for the likes of Adidas and Billionaire Boys Club, which he co-founded.

"Good style is natural, based on instinct. Bad style is too informed and too contrived," he told Britain's Stylist magazine.

During a quick-fire question round, the 44-year-old opened up about how he thought fashion was meaningful and that he still remembers the first pair of Adidas sneakers he got when he was 15.

He also said he couldn't decide between tennis player Stan Smith, who inspired Adidas' famous sneakers, and Chanel head Karl Lagerfeld when it came to picking his style icons.

"Stans are for any time and Chanel is (timeless too)," he smiled, adding that his looks are grounded in his emotions. "Fashion is a broad spectrum of emotions; you wear how you're feeling, whether you know it or not."

Pharrell recently showed off his love for vintage sportswear at the U.S. Open, designing the kit for Spanish tennis ace Garbine Muguruza and French player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

He took inspiration from retro designs and told Vogue: "The silhouettes that were very popular in the '70s were very strong. I haven't been able to get past that. They're just so cool. When you look at Wes Anderson films and where he pulls from. From the colorway to the silhouettes, I'm definitely inspired."
