(AllHipHop News) Amber Rose was recently hit with backlash after a clip circulated of her on N.O.R.E’s Drink Champs podcast saying, “a lot of the people where I’m from aren’t traditionally attractive people.”
The South Philadelphia-raised SlutWalk organizer posted a video attempting to explain her controversial comments.
“I find beauty in everyone,” said Rose. “Unfortunately, it’s not easy doing interviews and always saying things the way you really want to articulate.”
She continued, “I wasn’t saying that’s how I felt. I was saying that’s how people treated me, and it just didn’t come off properly in the interview.”
Another Philly native had some advice for Amber.
Atlanta Exes star Torrei Hart chastised Rose for her Drink Champs statements in a video uploaded to TMZ, and she did another interview with The Domenick Nati Show where the topic was brought up again.
“After that story dropped, a lot of Philly girls were reaching out to me saying, ‘Thank you for standing up for our city, thank you for standing up for us because we feel like she let us down,’” recalled Torrei. “I think people have to be more responsible with the words they choose, especially when you have a huge platform.”
The former wife of Kevin Hart also added, “Remember where you came from, humble yourself because she was discovered in a strip club. That’s no knock to her because I understand you gotta do what you gotta do to survive, but remember those are very humble beginnings. So I would just say watch the words that you choose or don’t do interviews drunk.”
While Drink Champs typically has its guests consume liquor throughout the podcast’s recording, Rose spoke about South Philadelphians not being “traditionally attractive” within the first three minutes of the episode.
