(AllHipHop News) It may be time for everyone to slow down with the news covering the possible fake Jussie Smollett assault. Once again, Chicago police had to answer rumors connected to the Empire star's alleged homophobic and racist attack on January 29.
Someone claimed to have seen Smollett with Ola and Abel Osundairo, the two brothers purportedly involved with the orchestrated hoax, in the actor's apartment building's elevator. However, the Chicago Police Department is now saying that the account is baseless.
"CPD has confirmed that a tip this morning about a sighting at the residential towers of individuals involved in this alleged incident is unfounded as it was not supported by video evidence obtained by detectives," tweeted CPD Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi.
Over the last several weeks, there have been numerous leaks from the investigation, some of which Guglielmi had to publicly refute. Smollett is currently standing by his insistence that he was not involved in the assault, but reports suggest authorities want to speak with the entertainer again after gathering new information about the case.
