Pras Michel Of The Fugees Fame Indicted For Alleged Illegal Donations To Obama
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Pras Michel, best known as a rapper in The Fugees, is now facing a serious legal quandary over alleged donations to former President Barack Obama.
The rapper allegedly helped donate millions of dollars campaign contributions to the then-president of the United States, which have raised the ire of the federal government.
Federal prosecutors in hit the rapper with a 4-count indictment Friday stating that Pras and a Malaysian entrepreneur named Jho Low worked together to pump funds from foreign accounts as contributions to Obama.
Pras made the donations for a Presidential candidate in the 2012 election, but the indictment does not state that the recipient was Obama. Still, Obama is the only person running for president that Pras was seen overtly supporting at the time.

Pras isn't backing down from the U.S. government, who claim he was helping to launder money.
As previously reported, Jho Low was previously charged with conspiracy to launder money for allegedly looting the Malaysian public wealth fund 1 Malaysian Development Berhad (1MDB) for a lobbying campaign to influence U.S. officials connected to his case.
Pras allegedly took the money and deposited it at several banks across the U.S. and then argued the monies were his.
"The property is not subject to forfeiture," said Pras' claim filed on Monday in Washington, D.C. "The Complaint fails adequately to allege that the property is the proceeds of specified unlawful activity or was used to promote, conduct, or facilitate specified unlawful activity, and, in any event, Mr. Michel is an innocent owner of the property who did not know of the conduct or circumstances giving rise to forfeiture."
