R. Kelly Explains Why He Couldn't Bail Himself Out Of Jail Or Pay Child Support

The singer-songwriter also says Andrea Kelly is lying about domestic violence allegations.

(AllHipHop News) Some observers were surprised when reports suggested R. Kelly could not afford to bail himself out of jail. A female friend named Valencia P. Love supposedly had to front the $100,000 for the singer's bond.

Kelly discussed his current financial situation in the latest installment of a CBS This Morning interview*.* The show's host, Gayle King, asked the emotional musician about his income. According to Kelly, he went to a bank on his own for the first time about a month ago.

"So many people have been stealing my money. People were connected to my account. I went by myself for the first time to Bank of America. Didn't know what I was doing. Didn't know what the hell was going on," said Kelly. He added, "Because I was so tired of not knowing where my money was, what my publishing is."

Kelly told King that he only had around $350,000 in his account. Throughout his career, Kelly settled multiple lawsuits with women that accused him of having sex with them when they were minors. However, he contends it was actually the people around him that led to his money troubles.

The self-described "Pied Piper of R&B" is currently back behind bars for failing to pay more than $161,000 in child support to his ex-wife Andrea Kelly. The professional choreographer was one of the women in Lifetime's Surviving R. Kelly docuseries that claimed Kelly was repeatedly abusive during their relationship.

"How can I pay child support? How?! If my ex-wife is destroying my name and I can't work? How can I work? How can I get paid? How can I take care of my kids? How?" yelled Kelly during his CBS appearance.

He also denied abusing Andrea while they were married. Kelly insisted, "She's not telling the truth. I love her to death. I have nothing against her still. That is my kids' mother... I'm not disrespecting her by saying she's not telling the truth. I'm just being honest."

Robert Sylvester Kelly was indicted on 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse in Cook County, Illinois. The charges include three purported victims who were allegedly minors at the time.

The 52-year-old Chicago native is also said to be under investigation in Georgia, and he's been accused of having sex with a then-underage girl in Detroit. Kelly has denied the sexual misconduct and physical abuse allegations presented in court and in Surviving R. Kelly.
