(AllHipHop News) The latest news in the R. Kelly legal saga involves the vocalist's former manager. According to reports, James Mason was indicted Thursday morning in Georgia.
Mason is facing a felony count for threatening Timothy Savage, the father of one of Kelly’s girlfriends. Joycelyn Savage's family have claimed she is being brainwashed by Kelly in order to keep her from leaving him.
In a May 2018 phone call, Mason apparently told Timothy Savage, "I'm gonna do harm to you and your family, when I see you I'm gonna get you, I'm going to f*cking kill you." The Henry County Sheriff's Department then issued an arrest warrant for Mason that August. The charge of making a terroristic threat is reportedly punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison.
"The Savage family will not be bullied or threatened in their quest to reunite with Joycelyn. Let this be a message to all associates of Robert Sylvester Kelly that the Savages are serious about justice and accountability," stated attorney Gerald A. Griggs.
Joycelyn Savage insists she is not being held without her consent. Earlier this year, CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King sat down with Joycelyn and fellow R. Kelly girlfriend Azriel Clary. The highly-publicized interview featured both women defending the Grammy winner against allegations of abuse and misconduct.
In February, Kelly pleaded not guilty to charges in Illinois that accused him of sexually assaulting three teenage girls and a fourth woman. The 52-year-old Chicago native was recently indicted on 11 new sexual assault and sexual abuse felony counts. He pleaded not guilty to those charges as well. There is also said to be a federal investigation into whether Kelly illegally transported minors across state lines for the purpose of having sex.
