R. Kelly Trying To Get Child Support Payments Dropped Since Income Has Plummeted

The singer will make a bid for freedom in front of a judge on Monday.

(AllHipHop News) Rap star R. Kelly is still trying to negotiate with the judge who threw him behind bars for being over 8 months behind on his child support payments.

R. Kelly was sent to the Cook County Jail after a court hearing on Monday when the judge ordered the singer to pay the full amount in arrears to his ex-wife, Drea Kelly.

During his interview with Gayle King on "CBS This Morning," R. Kelly admitted he was practically broke, saying he had $350,000 in the bank, but his money was flying out of his accounts, thanks to his own financial interest and mounting legal fees.

The singer's lawyers are planning to file a motion on Monday to ask the court to reduce the amount he currently owes to Drea, since his income has been greatly reduced over years of bad publicity over allegations he is running a sex cult.

R. Kelly says his earning tanked after the airing of a Lifetime docu-series called "Surviving R. Kelly," which exposed the singer's alleged abuse of several women, whose parents claim they were kidnapped and brainwashed by the singer.

In the meantime, R. Kelly is reaching out to friends to try and pull together the entire $161,000 he currently owes.

Last week, a fan of the singer helped him out and paid his $100,000 bail over 10 felonies for allegedly sexually abusing three teenagers and one woman.
