Meek Mill's lawyers have defeated a local Judge who refused to free the rap star from prison.

(AllHipHop News) Philly rapper Meek Mill was granted his freedom after five months locked in a Pennsylvania prison.

The Supreme Court overruled Judge Genece Brinkley's ruling to imprison Meek for violating his probation and ordered the rapper released on unsecured bail.

Meek was sentenced to a 2-4 year prison term, after he committed a series of minor infractions while serving out the remainder of his probation for a 2008 drug and gun case.

The rap star's lawyers maintained Judge Genece Brinkley, who was overseeing his case, had a vendetta against Meek when she refused to overturn her December 2017 ruling, where she labeled him a "danger to the community," due to failed drug tests, a fight in a St. Louis airport and traveling without permission.

Meek's lawyers pointed to a crooked cops' fabricated testimony in the rapper's original trial as a reason to overturn the sentence and the Supreme Court agreed with his defense attorneys' arguments today.

"I’d like to thank God, my family, my friends, my attorneys, my team at Roc Nation including Jay-Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time," Meek Mill said in a statement.

"While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters, and rallies have helped me stay positive.

"To the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, I’m grateful for your commitment to justice – not only for my case but for others that have been wrongfully jailed due to police misconduct. Although I’m blessed to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that many people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career."

Meek also hopped on Instagram to wish The Philadelphia 76ers good luck, in their attempt to defeat the Miami Heat tonight as they lead the series 3-1.
