(AllHipHop News) The family of a northern California rapper who was shot more than 24 times are here to demand justice. 20-year-old Willie McCoy was shot on February 9 after falling asleep in his car at a Taco Bell drive-through in the San Francisco area.
Six police officers opened fire claiming, McCoy was reaching for a gun in his lap.
CNN reports the family intends to sue, claiming the police’s response was “bungled from start to finish.”
The late rapper’s sister stated during a recent news conference, “You all executed my brother Willie. You all didn’t give him a chance to put his hands up.”
The family has filed a wrongful death claim against the city, which included the fact that some of the officers were not wearing uniforms.
McCoy was shot 25 times in the head, ear, neck, chest, arms, shoulders, hands, and back.
Attorney John Burris states, "From our point of view we think ... that something is rotten within the Vallejo Police Department. There is a sense that within this department itself there is a lack of appreciation, a lack of concern, a lack of caring for life."
Allegedly, there have been at least 14 cases against the police department in the last seven years.
