(AllHipHop News) Rapsody has been talking about wanting to collaborate with Cardi B since at least 2017. Two years ago, the North Carolina emcee said, "I would love to work with her. She's dope and she's fun. I like her energy. She's just herself."
Apparently, Rapsody actually tried to get the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker on her upcoming third studio album Eve. The Breakfast Club radio show interviewed Rap, and the Grammy-nominated musician spoke about reaching out to Cardi for a feature.
"I wanted her on this album. I couldn't figure out how to get to her. I wanted her on [the song] 'Whoopi,'" Rapsody told Charlamagne Tha God. "I reached out, but nobody ever reached back."
The Roc Nation rapper continued, "I hit her in the DM too. I don't think she was following me, so it might have got lost... I don't even trip because if it ain't supposed to happen, it ain't gonna happen at that time. When it's time, it's time. I didn't feel no way about it. It just wasn't time."
The Bardi Gang leader has expressed her appreciation for Rapsody's artistry as well. After veteran producer Jermaine Dupri described certain female performers are "strippers rapping," Cardi shouted out Rapsody, Tierra Whack, Kamaiyah, and Chika as "dope" women in Hip Hop that are making non-sexual content.
Even though Rapsody was not able to get a verse from Cardi for Eve, the project still has some top-notch guest appearances. D'Angelo, GZA, J. Cole, Queen Latifah, Leikeli47, Elle Varner, SiR, J.I.D, and more show up on the LP which is due out on August 23.
