Revived 'Top Boy' Series Reportedly Headed To Netflix For Multiple Seasons

Will superfan Drake actually make an appearance on the popular British street drama?

(AllHipHop News) Rumors have been circulating for several years that the British drama Top Boy was returning in some form. Drake even hinted in 2016 the television show would be revived when he posted on Instagram, "Top Boy will rise again.”

A new report by Radio Times claims new episodes of the East London-set series will premiere on Netflix. Actor/rapper Ashley Walters is expected to reprise his role as the drug dealing Dushane.

“We were going into meetings. Top Boy is the sort of brand we knew would sell to Netflix, Amazon. The numbers speak for themselves," said Walters in 2015. “So we had that power and the production company still owned the rights. And Drake made an offer and they turned it down. I don’t know what is going on with it – but I heard they are talking about a Top Boy Chicago.”

In addition, there has been speculation about Drake actually appearing on the rebooted Top Boy. Grime artist Skepta has also been connected to the program.

The first two "series" of Top Boy aired on Great Britain's Channel 4. Many Americans were introduced to the Ronan Bennett-created show when it began streaming on Netflix.
