Rick Ross Joins The Cast Of 'Coming To America' Sequel

Akeem of Zamunda heads back to the U.S. to find his heir to the throne in the upcoming motion picture.

(AllHipHop News) Legendary comedian Eddie Murphy (Beverly Hills Cop, Dreamgirls) is reprising his role of Akeem in the sequel to 1988's Coming to America. The new movie will also feature Miami-raised rapper William "Rick Ross" Roberts II (Superfly), according to reports.

Additionally, the cast includes returning actors Arsenio Hall as Semmi, James Earl Jones as King Jaffe Joffer, and Paul Bates as Oha. Wesley Snipes (Blade), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk) have also been attached to the film.

Kenya Barris (Black-ish) wrote the script with Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) set to direct. Coming to America 2 is expected to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2020. The original Coming to America grossed more than $128 million at the domestic box office.
