Rihanna has won her legal battle against UK retailer Topshop, who she smacked with a $5 million lawsuit in 2013 for selling sleeveless t-shirts that boast of a photo of her that was taken while filming her "We Found Love" video.
In the UK, celebrities have no control over how their images are used; however, Rihanna's legal team found a flaw in that law. If it is made to seem like the celebrity is endorsing that product or company, it could be seen as "passing off," or using an unauthorized image. Due to this loophole, the bad gal won the case. The amount she walked away with is unknown, but Topshop does have to pay her legal fees. The Bajan beauty is the first celebrity to win this type of case.
RiRi originally sued Topshop's parent company Arcadia in 2013 for $5 million for selling the t-shirts and the judge ruled in her favor on that case as well.
