(AllHipHop News) Russ had reason to celebrate when the first-week sales numbers for Zoo were announced. With 79,000 units, his sophomore major label set gave Russ the biggest sales week of his career.
Zoo also opened at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart, a personal high for the 25-year-old musician. However, the album plummeted twenty-nine spots to #33 in its second week.
Hip Hop projects released well before September 7 (e.g. Drake's Scorpion, Post Malone's beerbongs & bentleys, Juice WRLD's Goodbye & Good Riddance) have maintained Top 10 positions for over 10 weeks. Other 2018 LPs by Eminem, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Mac Miller, XXXTentacion, Cardi B, Lil Baby, Trippie Redd, and Migos are all currently charting higher than Zoo.
Russ went on an extensive promo run not long after his album was released. "The Flute Song" artist visited The Breakfast Club, Genius' On The Record, and other outlets. The news of Russ allegedly orchestrating physical altercations with Smokepurpp and Adam22 made headlines across the internet. He also got called out on Twitter by Yung Bans.
