Russell Westbrook Dedicates Historic Triple Double Performance To Nipsey Hussle

The 8-time All-Star shows love to his fellow Angeleno.

(AllHipHop News) Basketball superstar Russell Westbrook was raised in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The 30-year-old former NBA MVP grew up in the same city as Nipsey Hussle, the entertainer/entrepreneur who was killed on March 31.

Westbrook paid homage to Hussle before his game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday. The Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star wore a "Crenshaw" t-shirt into the Chesapeake Energy Arena in honor of the slain emcee, and he could be seen rapping along to Hussle's "Grindin' All My Life" before the game.

The Thunder's 119-103 win over the Lakers included a historic stat line. Westbrook scored the second 20-20-20 game in NBA history with 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 21 assists. Wilt Chamberlain's 22-25-21 game in 1968 is the only other time a player achieved that feat. Russ dedicated his impressive night to the Rollin 60's Neighborhood Crip.

"That wasn't for me, that was for my bro. That was for Nipsey. 20 plus 20 plus 20 - they know what that means," said Westbrook in a post-game interview. "Rest in peace to Nipsey. I'm just thankful to go out and compete at a high level. Thankful to have these teammates. Thankful and humbled to go out there and play the game I love."
